Coolest hello kitty product ever?

Dinner time!

Hi guys,

just some more random pics of food. I'm still a crap cook with bouts of food poisoning and straight into the bin recipes but since 2009 (when I got penny palace) I have improved loooooooads.

So first up....actually, I didn't cook this or eat it in penny palace, it's dinner at S's new flat!! Delicious dinner, flat and company :)

Then this is salmon, cous cous and roasted med veg. Delish! - It was my second attempt at cous cous and thanks to the inclusion of a veggie stock cube it was edible.

This is.........uh oh lol This is a bowl of thai sweet chilli sensation crisps. Breakfast at work! And no, I didn't add milk!

This was Saturday's dinner - basil chicken breast, balsamic tomatoes and roasted new potatoes. It was amazing. Honestly.

This is........not at all nice to look at but it was yummy. Kinda. Chicken wings - best I ever made - a bit of patience goes a long way! Potatoes same as yesterday as my mum gave me a million so I'm trying to use them up, but very happy to do so cos they are delish! And lastly, that blob on my plate is baba ganoush. My mum also gave me some aubergines (actually, everything in all the meals minus the spag bol, crisps and chicken breasts were courtesy of my mum.) so that was the only thing I could think to do with them. I thought it would be nice dipping my pototoes and wings into the baba ganoush but tbh I feel a bit sick now, I think the texture has traumatised me. Well, I am gonna be eating this for lunch at work tomorrow so oh well lol

BB creams

For a while now I've been interested in delving into the world of 'bb creams' (amongst others, bb can stand for blemish balm).

It's suppose to give amazing coverage as well as working magic on your skin. The formula was originally developed to help laser surgery patients heal better, and then it became popular in SE Asia and it is slowly reaching here. MAC America/Europe are supposedly launching their own BB cream on these shores soon (I differentiate between MAC SE Asia and MAC America/Europe because MAC have already got BB creams selling over the East Side.)

There's loads of BB cream available online and it's no means hard getting a hold of this stuff - the problem is a) choosing the right shade b) knowing which are good brands and worries along those lines.

My mum went to Thailand and on my request bought back a bunch of BB creams to try out with the aim of knowing what I like so that when my Dad goes in September he can buy me more.

The one I am using on a daily basis at the moment is:

.....by a brand called Mistine, which is popular in Thailand. It's been maybe a month now and it hasn't broken me out and it seems pretty decent (my first proper try so nothing to really compare it with so watch this space). The only problem and for some it might be a massive problem is the colour.

As you can see from the [above] pic, the shade is a)too light b) kinda grey looking. And this is pretty much true to life. But this doesn't really bother me. It would be great if it was a perfect match but c'est la vie! What I do is mix it with my revlon photo ready which is too dark/orange and so I get the perfect shade!

The other bb creams my mum got me are waiting to be given a trial run - no pictures or swatches cos I can't remember where I put my stash and can't really be bothered to hunt around. sorry!

However, I do have another batch of bb creams to share with you courtesy of someone at work....nickname shall be NK (btw these initials are not the people's initals but initals of the blog nicknames I have given them e.g SF's initials are not SF and NK's initials are not NK - in this case K stands for Korean cos she likes korean stuff. FYI).

NK has been very sweet because we don't really know know each other or talk very much, but one day we started talking in the loo (I was fixing my clown blusher) and next thing we had a looooong convo about BB creams and kpop, and the next day she bought in stuff, as shown below, for me to swatch. How kind!

[Pics ABOVE AND BELOW:]

This is a bb cream by Missha. I used this on my face twice and it's really good. Again, as you can tell in the swatch below it's still light and grey and I also have to mix this with my revlon photo finish.

It's hard to explain in words but BB creams feel like a thicker denser foundation (gloopier?) but when you put it on your face and blend it is not as thick as foundation....confused? I am! lol I must be honest, because of the colour situation it is very hard for me to this review this in a normal way. But I thought I'd share with you anyway my experience with BB creams because I am thinking that when it hits these shores then I'll be able to get my shade.

And lastly........

Next we have 4 sample sized tubes of bb cream by Skin 79 which is a very popular brand of BB cream (btw, if you did want to buy your own samples online all 3 brands I mentioned are good SE Asia brands).

From TOP to BOTTOM we have:

VIP Gold collection super blemish balm which had the most coverage out of this mini bunch (it probably doesnt look like it cos unlike the others it didn't super speed squirt out the tube as soon as I took off the lid!).

Triple Function (whitening, spf25 and wrinkle free) - this product swatched nicely but tbh all of the bb creams in bunch (the 6 I'm blogging about and the one's my mum got for me) all have the same functions

Diamond Collection Pearl BB cream - I love this! Definitely not an everyday bb cream as it is packed with glitter (described as luminous on the tube) but great for a night out or mixed in with your normal bb cream/foundation to give you a bit of boost.

Prestige blemish balm from the Diamond collection - erm, that's all it says so I dunno! I obviously had a bit of an accident whilst swatching....my arm seemed to like it ;)

So, have you tried any bb creams? If not, does the concept interest you?

Leopen print...gggrrr!

I am really loving leopard print at the moment. I'm not sure if I am overly tacky in real life, but I just like the fact that it brings some colour and pattern into my wardrobe but in reality it's just browns and nudes!

Plaits and blazer

Hello,

Just two looks that I am loving at the moment.

First one is based on my hair...I know it's not to everyone's taste; a colleague at work sings songs from the Sound of Music when she see's me but hey, I love Julie Andrew so I don't mind ;)

It's easy to do (basically two pigtails pulled over and pinned) and it's great 2nd day hair.

J

Second thing I love is my blazer. When I got this originally (peacocks £28) I didn't like it much because I thought the colour washed me out but with the warmer weather I like to chuck it on over my all black essemble to just lighten me up a bit.

It must be a lovely blazer because two other people at work have the same blazer!!!! It's a very weird thing for me to experience because as a bigger girl I can't usually buy clothes from mainstream shops so I can't remember the last time I was wearing the same piece of clothing as someone else (accessories, shoes, bags don't count!)

Good Hair Day

Hi Guys,

This is a bit late now but I thought I'd post it anyway...

End of May my hair straighteners (T3) broke. I was doing ym hair when I could smell burning and I was looking around and couldnt see anything on fire and then I turned back to do my hair and in the

mirror reflection I could see sparks and smoke coming out of my T3's which were in my hair. ARGH! I just waved them around and then chucked them. And once they had cooled down into the bin they went. RIP T3!!!

My brother kindly offered to buy me a pair of GHD's (which he eventually did) but in the meanwhile my friend R lent me her remington straighteners and OMG they were amazing!!!

I think she said they were only about £30 compared to GHD RRP of £99-£110.

[ABOVE and BELOW;

L<--GHD

R --> Remingtons]

I've always believed that, for people with certain hair, more higher end brands of straighteners were better. I have loads of friends who use straighteners that are £10. And that's fine if you have semi straight hair. But when your hair is course and frizzy with a wave I always believed that you had to get the big boys in.

After these remingtons I admit, I was wrong!

I have had cheaper hair straighteners in the past that never worked but obviously time and technology has progressed and so my mind set needs to progress with it.

As my kind and generous brother offered to buy me the GHD's I was not going to turn them down, but next time I see sparks, I'll be looking in my argos catalogue for my next pair of straighteners lol

Games night

Games night - basically I went to SF;s and we played games it was a great night. And omg I love pictionary. But it could give me a heart attack.

But sadly when I was getting ready the night before I decided to iron my dress (beige asos cape back) and look what I did!!!!! ..............I only had the frigging iron set too high and melted the goddamn dress. GUTTED and majorly pissed off with myself :(

I was thinking about cutting off the ends and rehemming but it's gonna be bum skimming..........hhhmmm I'm not chucking the dress yet; worse comes to worse I will turn it into a long line top.

Yay? Nay?

Lets not complicate things. Croppy boxy tops tops from Primark - yay or nay?

And also, two gorgeous maxi dresses from peacocks [pictured BELOW]. LOVE. Both of them were lovely on. I wish I could have got them but the problem with these patterned maxi's is that they are so...identifyable (is that a word?!) that you can't wear them all the time. If you wore one of these more than twice it would look like you were wearing it all the time whereas (IMO) you can wear a black dress everyday if you wanted to and switch out accessories/shoes and it would be like 10 different outfits,

If I had the money and the figure I would probably be a complete sheep when it comes to clothes but strangely being bigger and poorer makes my wardrobe even more exciting and loved because everything I own has been such a challenge and even if it was 50p it is valued.

It's a fulltime job getting ready in the morning!!!

xoxo

Don't trip over the Gap!

Me in the fitting room in Gap. It's weird being there as a regular shopper. And it's weird not knowing what's going to be in the store. No money + no time = just a few try-on's in the fits for kicks :)

[ABOVE PIC] Floral maxi; not great on me but (it will become evident) I really want a maxi dress/skirt and I've decided the best way about it is to just try on everything and anything.

[BELOW PIC] With that being said I gamely picked this maxi off the rail even though it looked likea giant tent....and lo and behold it also looked like a giant tent on me too.

And saving the best til last [BELOW PIC]:

I love it! The blazer is navy with a navy and red polka dot sleeve lining and the skirt is a....I don't know what colour; creamy, greyey, beigey, stoney colour in a maxi style with an elasticated drawstring waist (which is much cooler than it sounds!!). The black top is actually my slip that I just tucked into the skirt. But I think the whole outfit was pretty cool and budget aside I would have totally brought it.

Oh well. I'm sad I couldn't get it but impressed with my willpower :)

Pride OOTD

Hi Guys,

Just a quick share of yesterday's outfit of the day. Amazingly I am not wearing anything black (bar my undergarments but you can't see so doesn't count!).

I find dressing in the hotter weather very difficult because a) I am fat and b) about 99% of my clothes are black.

Faithful blog readers might recognise the dress I am wearing - it's the one I got exactly last year to wear to 'the' wedding but I didn't wear it because I didn't like it and felt stupid in it. Not much has changed this year but I had on my fake tan and I didn't feel so bright in the dress so I took it on a tour around Oxford St. (It was £16 from Matalan btw).

I paired it with my patent nude sandals from Primark (last year, I think they were £12) and a primark bag my mum just gifted me (£3!!!!! - she also gave me a black version too - similiar shopping habits!)

I initially had on my biscuity cardigan from Gap Outlet NY ($9) but I only had that on for 15 mins before stuffing it into my handbag.

Hair is in a giant bun. So happy to have my hair off my neck and face; it's like a bloody blankey sometimes.

Oh! The dress came with a fabric belt in the same material but I took that off and jsut put on my tan Dorothy Perkins belt instead (£8..or £12)

Also my toe nails were NY Cin i131A (imaginative name(!)) and my nails were beige style by rimmel.

I have a feeling I shall be recycling this look everytime I need a bright and breezy outfit!

Hope you have had a nice weekend, and any LGT peeps readig; happy PRIDE to you.

Much love xoxox
