Style369 Wishlist

Style369

Heard of them? An online store and Arcadia's latest (been around for a while now) offering.
A younger alternative to Evans, style 369 caters to sizes 14-26.

I think it's just a way to capture the minds (and purses) of the younger/more fashion conscious because pricewise same as Evans, and clotheswise, a lot of the things are the same too. But hey, buying from style369 feels better than buying from Evans!!!

They've got really good concessions in and here's some stuff that if I won the lottery would be purchased asap!

Crap pic but this is a gorgeous long sleeved black and white polka dot dress. Polka dots, nuff said!!

A black dress with a nude/camel chiffon neckline. Sweet and cute. Just like me :) LMAO

OMG. Now this dress is pure lust. Mocha pleated dress. I'd probably look like a buffalo in it but the best dressed buffalo ever!!

These boots are suede with a square toe. Perfect for dressing down a girly dress and worn stomping around in the rain and cold. (Yeah it's 'suede' but shoes are made for walking in people!)

Similar to my primark teal dress but costing 3 times as much.
Hey, it comes with pockets! I want.

This is about as casual as I get but I think it would look really cool with a boyfriend blazer and boots. Or worn now with some wedges. I wonder how flattering this material is though.

[Top and Bottom] Wedge knee high boots. The 'gusset' boot is so similar to the pair I wanted last year, I've seriously got my eyes on these I think they may be 'the one' for winter 2011/2012. Below is the same style minus the gusset and the wedge looks a bit higher. I want dammit. I wish it was my birthday now.

And lastly on my wishlist. The most 'me' dress. Black but with a gem bow detail. Romantic goth at its best. I love you dress.

NOTD: tie dye slash acid wash nails

Hey Guys!

Sorry about the claw hand pose lol

A nail of the day fresh off the press :)

It's supposed to be a acid wash/tie dye effect nail and was really easy to do and no special tools or polish needed.

"Recipe"

2 nail colours

Base and top coat (optional)

Cotton buds

Nail polish remover

Step One [ABOVE pic]:

Paint your nails with the darker polish (mine are painted in collection 2000 in ebony). Let them dry completely

Step Two [BELOW pic]:

Paint completely over your nails in the lighter polish (mine colour of choice was boots no7 in the limited 60's mini skirt). Let them dry completely

Step Three [BELOW pic]:

Now comes the fun bit. This was my first time and I was a bit inpatient but I think second time round it will look nicer, but anyway...

Get your cotton bud and dip it into nail polish remover (you want it totally saturated but not dripping wet) and then just GENTLY rub it over your nail until you get the desired effect (as you rub the top polish colour, the bottom polish colour is exposed).

OOTD

Back to basics with Thursday's cream, black and grey outfit of the day.

Charcoal grey boyfriend blazer from primark, cream top from gap, m&s trousers with turned up bottom, eBay owl pendant and my 'focco' bag.

Wore grey 'suede' pumps with bow and 'gold' detail from primark. Total wrecked on the way home when the sky split open and drowned my poor shoes. Today is Saturday and they are still damp :(

And I don't know why my feet and ankles are so fat and orange, i blame the angle and lighting. They are about 5% less fat and orange in real life lol

Summer Shower faves 2011

Summer Shower Faves 2011

I've been meaning to do a faves post for a while and so rather than wait until the end of August to do a August faves post I thought I would just do an overall Summer Faves for shower type products (body, face, hair) just to keep it short and sweet..

There's not much since I've been on a tight budget and plus I've tried not to duplicate stuff I've already mentioned.

[L - R ]

1 + 2: Heads & Shoulders Damage Rescue shampoo and conditioner. I've got a love/hate relationship with H&S. It doesn't irritate me but it does make my hair fall out... I usually use damage rescue or the pink one, 'smooth and silky'.

3: St Ives facial exfoliating scrub. Love this! This is some intense sandpaper feeling scrub. It makes me feel raw and clean. The only thing I feel that is lacking is a soapy feel, (or bubbles? lather? I dunno) which is fair enough since that's not what this product is about.

[skipped the Dove for 'flow' reasons]

5: Therefore when I am in need of some bubbles I use either Simple's facial wash or the product pictured - Superdrug's own brand 'deep action daily facial scrub'. I like this because it lathers and its got some 'stuff' in it (to exfoliate) and it leaves my face feeling cool and fresh

[and back to Dove]

4: Dove's 'go fresh' nourishing body wash. This is mega gorgeous! And I've had my smell back twice using this and it smells lovely in the shower and it leaves my skin feeling nice and fruity too. I could eat this!

[L - R]

1: (Ok, I don't apply eye cream in the shower but I thought I'd chuck this into the post for the hell of it!)

I posted about this in my avon haul a while ago but only started using it about 2 weeks ago since finishing my clinique rich eye cream. I don't know if it's any good yet and if it will save me from dark circles and puffy eyes but a) it hasn't irritated my eye area and b) I find the two step process fun. Yeah I'm lame.

2: Yes that is a deodorant. It's the Sure Crystal Clear Diamond. This might seem a weird reason for it making it to my faves list but I love the way the spray nozzle is designed. Yup, that is way it's a fave. I have no comment on scent or if it stops you getting sweaty and smelly but I shall repurchase for the nozzle!

3+4: Loreal Full Restore 5 shampoo and conditioner. I brought this to switch out with my H&S because of the hair loss. I picked this because it was on a bogof at superdrugs and thought that the hair loss couldn't get much worse.

Let me just say - it did not make me lose more hair - i think the hair loss actually stopped/minimised. Loreal Elvive Full Restore 5 did what it said, my hair was looking fabulous. People were actually saying "wow your hair is looking nice". It looked healthier and shinier and less damaged.

However however however. My scalp was effed up. Itch itch itch scratch scratch scratch!!!

I wash my hair every other day apart from the weekend where if I'm not going out/seeing anyone then I go the two days unwashed and usually in olive oil. Anyway! When using Loreal 5 I needed to (but I didn't.) wash my hair everyday otherwise it looked like it was snowing on my shoulders you know what I'm saying?! The reason why I didn't just wash everyday was because I didn't want to handle my hair more than I needed to due to hair loss and drying out my straw head.

Er....so why is this in my faves?! Cos it was good. Not everyone has my scalp so I would recommend this to my friends.

*************

So that's it for my Summer shower faves!

Feel free to share your's below :)

Weird Facts Tag

A tag started by the beautiful ray of sunshine that is carlycristman.
I tag you all!

15 Weird Facts...

1. What’s a nickname only your family calls you?

Apart from the obvious versions of Penny (my brother calls me Pen) my mum calls me Nin and my dad calls me Pinky.

2. What’s a weird habit of yours?

I always rub the side of my nose (right hand side). This started out for a 'real' reason but now it's just a habit.

3. Do you have any weird phobias?

.....I have lots of phobias. And I am neurotic. So does that make all my phobias weird? I'm scared of pineapples but that's because I am allergic so it's more of a survival instint, and though it's weird it is not stupid.

4. What’s a song you secretly love to blast and belt out when you’re alone?

Hero, Mariah Carey. Or Whitney's I will always love you.

5. What’s one of your biggest pet peeves?

People who file their nails in public. Hate.

6. What’s one of your nervous habits?

The nose rubbing as previously mentioned. And I pee loads! TMI? Lol

7. What side of the bed do you sleep on?

I sleep on the right side.

8. What was your first stuffed animal and it’s name?

I can't think!!! But my first 'thing' was a blanket (called blankie) that I still have, though it's not a blanket anymore, it's ribbon lol

9. What’s the drink you always order at Starbucks?

Rain, sun or snow - chocolate cream frappachino.

10. What’s the beauty rule you preach, but never actually practice?

Foundation.

Ok, that's a word and not a rule. But basically all the foundation rules - I judge other people for breaking them but I'm always breaking them myself. Wrong colour, too heavy, tide mark, patchy, too glittery, too dry. I break all the rules. I am a rebel.

11. Which way do you face in the shower?

I usually face the shower apart from when I rinse out my shampoo then I face away from the shower head. Is that what the question is asking?

12. Do you have any weird body skills?

I have double jointed shoulder so I can turn my arms 'backwards'. I'm trying to turn my head all the way round (!!!!) so that I will look like the front from the back.....every girl needs an ambition!

13. What’s your favorite comfort food/food that’s bad but you love to eat it anyways?

Chicken wings. Nuff said.

14. What’s a phrase or exclamation you always say?

O M G

"...like..."

15. Time to sleep – what are you actually wearing?

Whatever and sudocreme :)

I heart London

Hi Guys,

As a London girl born and bred I can't end my weekend blog marathon without mentioning the London Riots.

I am not going to go into my version of the whys and hows. There is already plenty of that going around. It happened. But it is (I hope) over now, and all we can do is take a deep breath and start the mending. Mending the buildings and streets, and mending the trust and community.

I hope that everyone is safe and well. Amazingly Stratford came out of the rioting/looting fine apart from JD Sports. I guess living near the Olympic site has it's perks! Honestly I've been shit scared but *shrugs* let's keep on marching <3

Big hug everyone *HUGS*

Penny in print

Fitting room in Peacocks.

No purchases made but thought I'd share me in print and colour.

And this last dress! Second time trying it on, last time I posted a pic of it on the hanger - and now I know why!

I couldn't get the dress and the slip on at the same time. Hence the reason I've got the dress on and the slip is hanging elegantly out of the dress lol

eBay haul

Yay eBay!

I got gifted two handbags from ebay (my choices) and I am happy happy :)

First up we have my favourite bag out of the two. I've wanted this bag for ages. It is a 'homage' to the famous Alexander Wang rocco bag, and fellow bloggers have christened this one the 'focco' (fake rocco). The Wang is £800 so erm, that's why I've got the focco (around £30-35 on ebay depending on seller).

It doesn't photograph very well (or maybe it is the photographer lol) but I think (i hope!!) once it's got some junk in it it will look great. I might do a more detailed photo blog once I've road tested it.

Next up we have a bag (Ostrich kelly bag) that I've wanted for even longer than the rocco, I've wanted this style since I worked at Gap Flagship, which was at least 5 years ago!!!

However, if I'm honest, I'm happy with it, and I like it, but it isn't love.

But anyway, I'll also photoblog this once I've roadtested it.

And lastly, I brought a notepad holder for my desk at work. I love it and I can't wait to put it on my desk on Monday.

These..things..are available from poundland/99p store types places so some people might think I got ripped off since I paid £2 (£1 for thing and £1 for postage) but I don't feel that way. My local shops didn't have it, and even when they did, they didn't have it in pink, so I think for an extra £1 (cheaper than the bus!) it was worth it for getting the one I wanted. Wow - all that for justifying £1 lol

OOTD x3

Hi Guys :)

Just a few outfit of the day's to share:

First up, black caped asos dress with milk maid braids (which provided endless entertainment for my work mates);

My teal primark dress again. I think I love it. I liked wearing it the 2nd time much more than the first. Teamed it with my leopard print shoes, american apparrel leather large clutch and my new ebay purchase - owl pendant.

This owl pendant is my new favourite thing. Ebay for about £1.38 inc p+p. It came on a long necklace but due to my skin allergies I transferred the pendant to a leather necklace I also got on ebay (I got it ages ago - I think it was around £3.00).

As friends and regular blog readers might notice, I don't usually (ever!) wear jewelry so I felt very feminine and a bit flashy with my owl friend. Since I enjoyed wearing it so much, I went a bit crazy and have ordered lots of pendants off ebay - oops!

Once they arrive I shall of course be sharing with you :)

Super duper casual OOTD: oversized peacock asos t shirt (purchased to wear for my marie curie 10k walk last year), primark leggings, primark peachy nude studded pumps, and my owl necklace :)

On a sidenote...

I love living near work. Extra time in bed. No travel costs. No panic attacks on public transport. No need to endlessly snack on the journey (I worry I'll starve on any sort of journey).

BUT....

Argh. Sometimes a girl wants to pop to the post office on the weekend in her big t shirt, ponytail and leggings with a few holes in it without bumping into colleagues who are doing overtime weekend!! You know what I'm saying?! lol

I feel that 'all' the effort I put into my work clothes is lost once someone see's me without eye shadow, hair spray and a clinched waist lol
