OOTD & NOTD: sun and sparkles

Summer = legs out! Sorry about the face lol This was the first day of sunshine and I had the day off. Didn't get to do a proper OOTD picture so quickly snapped myself in the mirror at TK MAxx. Short sleeve chiffon black blouse (M&S), black shorts (ASOS curve) and peachy nude studded pumps (primark). Leopard scarf (primark) worn for practical purposes; was for covering up my dignity i.e. crotch when sitting down at lunch and on the bus.

Feet out at work in my nude peep toe mid heel Matalan beauties. Nails in lightning by LA Colors  and henna done by my friend.

OOTD: dotty in the sunshine

Hey Guys! How are we all coping in the sunshine? Shock to the system but I think I've done well this week. I've been flashing my white flabby bits and really enjoying it.

The hot weather made me feel quite brave so I wore my polka dot blouse (Dorothy Perkins), and polka dot skirt (Gap) with my patent yellow peep toe sling back shoes (new look).

Where's the rest of my face gone? Eyebrows look good though! Make up wise I've been trying to keep it easy, not bothering with liner or shadow because it just melts off in 5 mins, 425 coats of mascara and a defined brow is my summer face atm. Weather like this I wish i had a pixie crop!

• First Celebrity Obsession

Johnny Depp. I knew everything about him. I wrote to him. I had books, posters, postcards, stickers. And thanks to R and J I also have a wall (!!!) sized cardboard movie poster of him.

• First Celebrity Encounter

I can't remember who was the first.....but I know that my answer is not the first. But I saw Sarah Harding (Girl's Aloud) coming out of H&M Covent Garden once, just after they won Popstars: The Rivals. She was beautiful. Strangely, on the same day I also saw all of One True Voice, the runner's up of Popstars: The Rivals.

• Favorite Celebrity Encounter

Ok this is lame, and you probably won't agree that he is a celebrity, but my fav celeb encouter was with Rikki from the X factor. I had a little photo, got a pic, hug and autograph. So though he isn't famous it was a nice encounter all round.

• Current Celebrity Obsession

Lily Collins, daughter of Phil Collins. I am obsessed. I wish I was her. She is gorgeous. And in her latest film she is acting opposite my previous celeb obsession Taylor Lautner.

Adele. She's fat and from London. I think we'd get along well. Plus she seems the type to be happy to just sit and chat all night rather then go raving. And we could shop at plus size shops together and she won't try make me go into river island.

Oh. Would that be Adele as well? Well, if I had to pick someone else I'd pick Emma Stone (not to be confused with Emma Roberts). She seem's really cool and up for a laugh and not too stuck up.

• An Artist You’d Love To See Live

I would love to see someone like Nicole Scherzinger. Just for the bright lights and fancy costumes and the high heeled dancers. I think it would be fun. On the other hand, someone like Adele would just bring goose pimples to your skin. So I'm not too sure whether I'd choose glitz over talent...who am I kidding, I'd choose the eye candy every time!!!!!!

• A Celebrity You Respect Purely For Talent

A lot of people will agree, and a lot will disagree but I respect Lady Gaga for her talent. I;m not really a fan, but I give her big props for what she does. She is a show woman, a pure star and she always gives 1000% and I respect her for that.

• A Celebrity You Feel You’d Be Good Friends With

Is a celebrity not a human being ? Anyway, I'd pick Drew Barrymore. She is weird, and a bit crazy, but she also seems like she'd be a good friend to talk to and shop with. Can't really ask for more. I'm finding this questions a bit hard because of my age. Celebs seem to be either too young for me or too old.

• A Celebrity You Wish Would Adopt You:

Angelina Jolie of course. But I'd have a bit of a problem with Brad being my dad.......nudge nudge wink wink

• A Celebrity You Find Beautiful:

Brad Pitt! He is a fine specimen of a man. I find his face mesmerising. Beautiful and 100% manly at the same time.

• A Celebrity You Are Not At All A Fan Of:

I am not a fan of Jack Nicholson. He makes me feel dirty and even typing about him is making me uncomfortable. He looks like a nasty dirty old man who is too confident of himself and been told too many good things about himself. Be humble, shut up and go home please.

• A Celebrity You Dislike That Others Seem To Love:

Keira Knightley. Everyone seems to love her and I do not. I won't say I hate her, but seriously, overrated in every way. A) She can't act. She's even shit in the commercials for god's sake. B) Yeah she is beautiful, but that 'pout' people talk about.......what are they talking about!? She has no lips. Her fake pout reminds me of Moe from The Simpsons. Annoys me massively.

• A Celebrity You Love That Others Seem To Dislike:

Paris Hilton. People love to laugh at her and say horrible things, but I really really like her. I think she is inspiring. Sure she was born rich and famous but hey, she's built on that. People call her stupid but she's the one becoming even more famous and rich so who is really the stupid one? I think she kicks ass. (Sure now she thinks she is in love and a body builder but hopefully this is just a phase and she goes back to Barbie Paris soon!)

• Favorite No-Longer-Alive Celebrity:

Elvis Presley.My generation know his name but I don't think we all recognise or appreciate the true talent he had. His singing, dancing, acting, charisma and he was gorgeous in his hey day. Elvis Presley had the X Factor!!

Debatable whether he's a celeb but Ollie Locke from Made in Chelsea. I think he is adorable - like a big human puppy. You just want to pat him on the head and give him treats.

Milo Ventimiglia. Didn't put him in the crush section because it's not a crush it's love. I could have put his name into most of the answers but I've saved him for marriage :) I think he is cute and sexy, and his personality seems cool. And he likes younger girls ;) The only problem would be if he tried to stop me from from eating meat (he's a veggie).

• A Celebrity Whose Personality Is Irresistible: 

Pixie Lott. Great personality and great looking. Who could resist her?

• A Celebrity You Respect For What They’ve Been Through In Life:

No one. We are all human. Some of us get dealt a shit hand. At least these celebs made it through to the other side, some mere mortals are stuck in their hell hole.Sick of celebs talking about how hard their life was; well it's not so bad anymore so why don't you quit moaning and do something good? Oh, cos you're a selfish self serving w*nker! Rant over.

• A Celebrity You Share A Birthday With

I had to google this. And it was really disappointing (no offense celebs); everyone was so old and kinda past their sell by date (sorry sorry sorry!!) The most famous two (to me) were Woody Allen and Bette Midler. Kinda weird though because from their public persona they each reflect a bit of me, Woody - the weird kooky me, and Bette, the in-your-face drama queen me.

• A Celebrity You Find Annoying

Alexandra Burke of X Factor 'fame'. Annoying? I hate her! I didn't mind her when she was on the show, but afterwards? OMG. Her face, her voice, the crap she says, her god awful clothes and her synthetic pop songs just make my blood boil. And her weave?! You can cut that horse hair you know, you don't have to glue it straight to your head! I just feel she's too big for her boots and loud. Get out of my face please!

• Favorite Under 20 Celebrity

My celeb is 20 on the dot (21 in Feb 2012) so not sure if I am 'cheating' but my fav young celeb is Emma Robert (niece of Julia Roberts). I think her acting is great, and she is pretty and seems nice. She's already had a good career for her age but I hope her star continues to rise.

• Favorite Over 60 Celebrity

Dame Judy Dench, 76 years old!!!!! (I didn't realise she was that age, she is looking good!!). I've picked Dame Judy for a really lame reason. Truth be told I don't like her and think's she overrated (so shoot me) but when I was in secondary school the classes in my year were named after English actresses (other year's were named after female scientists, sportswomen, female authors (I went to a girls school). So the name Dench is a part of my life and history, and a part of me. So even though I don't like her I also cheer her on because it is like cheering myself on(!)

• The Celebrity Fandom That Means The Most To You

Ok, to me, 'fandom' is basically Fan Kingdom. A bunch of crazy obsessed people joined together for the love of a celeb (or franchise i.e twihards). And that being said, Twihards rule!!!! Such dedication and obsession and passion for a dead guy and a dog. (I'm team Jacob btw).

This is the latest beauty tag going round blogs and vlogs so here's my go:

GREED: YOUR CHEAPEST BEAUTY PRODUCT
My cheapest beauty products would be my LA Colors nail polish at 99p a bottle. Also, MUA black matte eyeshadow in shade 20 is also 99p and beyond amazing.

WRATH: WHICH BEAUTY PRODUCT MADE YOU SEE RED?

Primer, every single bloody primer. I must be allergic to an ingredient (probably the silicone) but when I first started my make up journey I wanted the whole shebang, a 'proper face', primer base, concealer, foundation, setting powder but now I've given up on the primer cos it makes me literally see red when I'm looking at my reflection:(


GLUTTONY: WHAT IS THE YUMMIEST PRODUCT YOU EVER TRIED?

I think 90% of people have said the same thing but Lush's lipscrub in bubblegum is literally yummy. It's just sugar and....stuff.....hope it is safe to eat cos I definitely consumed some!


SLOTH: WHICH BEAUTY ROUTINE DO YOU REGULARLY SKIP BECAUSE YOU CAN'T BE BOTHERED?

I'm pretty good with my beauty routine as I find it really relaxing actually, taking off my mask at the end of the day calms me down and helps me unwind.

But there was one thing I didn't do, not out of laziness but because I was a bit confused about it - toner.

Strangely enough I've just started using toner, or Clinique's Clarifying Lotion to be more precise, for just over a week now ,simply because I've had a bottle laying around for ages and am trying to use stuff up.

I'm still confused about what it does, all I know is a) it stings my face like crazy and b) it hasn't broken me out, so I shall continue to use it til I finish, and then I'll be back to sloth :)

[Edit: Now been using toner - most days- for 4 months and it's great!]

Something I neglect is my feet. When I was younger I'd scrub away at the heel and cream them etc. I cannot remember the last time I creamed my feet! I do always paint my toenails though, so my feet look ok from afar :)


PRIDE: WHICH BEAUTY PRODUCT MAKES YOU (OVERLY) SELF CONFIDENT?

Eyeliner. If I could only use one product then I'd pick eyeliner. Without it my face has no focal point. I'm just a round yellow blob with a blob red nose and big blob lips. Eyeliner gives my face a balance I feel.

LUST: WHAT BEAUTY HABIT OR PRODUCT IS AN INSTANT SEX-APPEAL HIT FOR YOU?

I don't understand the question....Does this mean what makes me feel sexy or what makes someone else sexy?

Assuming that I'm on the right track - I need eyeliner to feel sexy (cos it makes me closer to confident) and then perfume - even though I can't spell it I'd hope I smell nice for others.

For the 'someone else' - well for a guy their not really going to be wearing many beauty products unless goth/emo, so I'd just say clean and fresh. No Mr Twit with food in his beard!


ENVY: WHAT IS THE BEAUTY PRODUCT YOU'D LIKE TO AFFORD ONE DAY?

A Lippmann nail polish. I really want one for the sake of me. And also Nars Albatross highlighter. These are things that I could realistically buy one day.

If I was rich(er) I would really like to be able to afford a full set of creme de la mer products for myself and my mum. Or even one pot each but even that would be £400 for 2 big tubs. Holy moly!

TAG: 10 Little Secrets

How is everyone? Today I'm going to do a tag (started by youtube's beautycrush) and of course I tag all of you to do it too :)

1. What is one product that makes you feel like a million dollars?

Eye liner. If I was dressed in designer togs complete with accessories, bling and professional hair and make up, I would not feel a million dollars without eyeliner. 

2. What is your skincare secret? / A passed down skin care tip

I don't have a skincare secret. But my mum always told me to a) make sure all my make up is off my face at bedtime but b) be gentle on the eye area. 

3. Share your hair care secret?

I think that with hair, the less you do the better. Otherwise, in terms of a tip I would say use as less as heat as you can. I try to let my hair dry naturally as long as possible before blow drying and unless it's a special day I'll only straighten the top layers and front rather then torture my whole head of hair. 

4. What is your biggest diet rule?

HAHAHAHA I won't be a hypocrite and tell you what to eat. 

5. Any workout tips?

Same as above. 

6. Which perfume is your secret weapon?

Victoria Beckham! It's lush and people do comment on it and it's definitely a secret!

7. Show us a clothing item of yours which always turns heads

I can't do this one - but I would say 'sexy dress photo 5' which has been on this blog a few times. It's just a plain black work dress but the shape and fit is nice.

8. What is your most treasured piece of jewellery?

I have a penny coin instead a gold case that my dad got made for me. I don't wear it but I treasure it. 

9. Who is your style crush?

My style crush is.....Diane Kruger. A bit random but I like her feminine style. Stylish and modern but often lady like with a twist. I like her hair too. 

10. Tell us something we don't know about you.

Shall I keep this fashion/beauty based? I have really fat ear lobes (thanks daddy) and so I can't wear studs because they point upwards rather then face forwards.
