[UPDATED} Pure coconut Oil - as a balm cleanser / make up remover

Hi Guys - A short while back I did a post on how much I was loving using pre coconut oil on my hair - and I still do.

I've read quite a bit on how good coconut oil is as a balm cleanser/make up remover but was worried it would cause some sort of reaction. There's a few tutorials you can look up where essential oils are  added but these tend to cause me to break out so I just want in raw. I was really bored so that's why I decided to do this - maybe I should get a hobby.

HOW TO:

Scooped out some coconut oil and whacked it on my face.
Rubbed it around my face
Rubbed some more on my eyes and gently massaged eyelids
Rubbed lashes between thumb and finger
Used face wipe to get rid of oily residue
Washed face as normal
I've done this 3 times now - it looks super messy - but that mess is just the mess that was already on your face!  I found it easy to wipe off and it left my skin feeling nice (not oily). However, however! I've noticed a few red spots on my cheeks. Now, we all know I' m spottier than Spot the dog but these are different - so I've given it a rest for the moment, I have some important stuff coming up but once that's over I'm going to give it another go. I think as a weekend cleanse it shouldn't be too bad for me.

Have you given this a go? Any good?

Halloween: Bloody eyeballs nail of the day

Hello Ghouls andGuys! Happy Halloween!

I wanted to do a spider bun to celebrate theghost and  ghoul season but due to hair cut and colour it just wasn't working out (it would have been a baby blonde spider). Instead  - I decided that some scary bloody eyeballs would satisfy my thirst for blood. Are you scared? If you want to have some scary nails keep on reading!
To get this gruesome look you need 4 colours: white, red, blue and black. And I also used a clear base and top coat. I used my dotting tools to help me out but nail art pens or a toothpick would also work. This is super easy and quick.
Step 1: Paint all your nails in an opaque white.
(I actually used a cream colour with a white on top to get a nice even colour.)

Step 2: Make blue dots in the middle of each nail
(Of course you could have a different coloured eye - but I'd recommend blue or green for more of a visual impact)
Step 3: Make black dots in the centre of the blue dots
Step 4: Make messy red lines from the outside in. These are the bloody veins.
(I found this really hard but I think the overall look works ok?)
Step 5: Make small white dots off of the black dots

And that's it! Easy peasy!

Do you do anything halloween? Some scary nails? Full out fancy dress?
Happy Halloween ghouls and guys xoxo

New make up brushes! Ebay real technique dupes!

Hello hello!

So a few weeks ago I picked up a couple of Real Techniques brushes and i did like them. I was considering picking up the Core Collection but couldn't really justify the price. Whilst I was online browsing reviews to see if it would be worth it I came across a post about some dupe real technique make up brushes available off eBay. And then I googled dupe real technique brushes and read a few good reviews. Got myself on eBay and aftering a bit of umming and arring and tok the plunge and purchased 3 of the brushes.

The seller I went with was bg4acf and I got my package in 2 weeks - whichis bloody amaxing considering it came from Hong Kong. Postange and packaging was free, and the brushes were £1.87 each. Yes, £1.87! I went with the brushes 01, 02 and 04. (OMG I just checked eBay and they are only £1.84 now lol)

I washed them before I used them and they washed and dried well. I used the stipple brush to put on foundation and I liked it - not super dense but dense enough to make application smooth and easy. I used the contour brush to...contour (perfect size), really nice quality. The other brush is like the expert face brush which I already have but I did dab it around my face to give it a bit of a road test and I like it - none of them are scratchy by the way, and I've not noticed any shedding.

I cannot believe the price I paid and would recommend it - tempted to get even more just for the sake of it!

I got my hair cut!

Before
After

Hi Guys!

As the title would suggest - I got my hair cut. It was quite a last minute decision but I last got it cut in May so it was about time. The before and after pics don't show very well how much I got cut off - about 4 inches, but I think you can see it's less straggly!!! Because a lot of the dead bits have been chopped off my hair is so much more manageable.

The bigget problem I'm having is that I can't do my bedtime bun anymore, as the back is too short, so I've been testing out some other bedtime hairstyles? Whaddya think? LOL

Review: Sleek blush by 3 in Sugar

Hi guys!
As mentioned in my previous post my mum gave me a blush palette - Sleek's blush by 3 palette in Sugar to be precise.
Sleek is well known for their brilliant quality and great priced make up. Their products are well known for having great colour pay off and this palette doesn't let down their reputation.
Blusher was not a part of my every day face routine previously; partly because I can't get the hang of how/where to apply it and also because red pigment blushes break me out.
My skills haven't improved and red pigments still break me out but since this was gifted and I had happened to buy a new blush brush I thought I'd give it a go....and I haven't looked back since!
I really like this palette and am tempted to buy others. I probably would not have picked this palette out myself but my mum obviously has a better eye than me cos I think these shades are good for my skin tone and perfect for autumn/winter.
Colour wise we have:
Turbinado - my favourite shade on myself - a matte orange.

Muscovado - a shimmery bronze looking shade but with a reddy tone once applied to the face. Amazing pigmentation - but this also means you need a very very very light hand.

Demerara - a reddy brown matte shade - I've been using this the least due to the red pigments but it is a gorgeous colour.

Action shot of the blusher and blush brush! lol

As I've said - I love it -  a palette is usually about £10 but they're 3 for 2 at Superdrugs at the moment. Tempted to get Pumpkin and Lace, and also one of the new contour kits mmmmmm

[updated] Hair Products

Hi Guys

I treat my hair terribly. I don't get it trimmed enough;I don't brush it enough,  I don't deep conditioner it on a regular basis and I murder it daily with heat.

So... the only 'good' thing I do is use heat protectant products. I don't know if they work but I don't think that they do any harm so why not.

For many years I've been using the Loreal Studio Hot Straight - as endorsed by Beyonce back in the day. I got pulled in by Beyonce and the pink bottle if I'm honest, and as usual I stock up when there's some sort of promo going on. I wash my hair, towel dry it, put serum on it, brush out my hair and then spray this roots to end, blast my hair dry and then run the GHD's over it. Easy peasy.

I decided on my last bottle that I wanted to branch out a tiny bit and try other brands in a similiar price range. It was nothing to do with the product itself, I just got a bit bored after approxiamately 10 bottles.

I picked up the Loreal Elnett heat protect spray (the volumn one) as endorsed by Cheryl Cole - I admit this time my purse was seduced by Cheryl. I'm an advertisers dream *shrugs* This is definitely on the higher end of my budget and even when it's on offer I feel a bit argh (rrp £6, 2 for £9 atm in Boots) but I really liked it. I like the bottle/spray design and the product did give me more volumn. I would definitely recommend it and I would repurchase (this would be my favourite out of the bunch if it was cheaper).

Next up we have a vo5 duo - one is a standard heat protect spray, and the other is a heat protect/volumnising product. I decided to give these a go as they were on offer for 2 for £5. Again with the both of them, they do what they claim.

I regards to the volumn heat/volumn sprays I would say that they don't give you massive massive hair just by spraying them in, you would need to do some fancy styling work but for what they are, and for what I want I'm more than happy. It's the 2nd day hair where these products are quite impressive - when I brush my hair out (hello tangle teezer I love you)  I have a little lion's mane....
...Did I mention a little lion mane? I might have meant mahoosive hair but with a greasy parting and that's where my can't live wihtout product comes into play - dry shampoo. If I wanted my hair out and didnt have dry shampoo I would have to wash my hair daily. Luckily dry shampoo does exist *phew* I've mentioned Batiste many times before so I won't go on about how great this is but this is my first time trying Cherry and I just wanted to share the pretty bottle with you :)

What's your favourite batiste? Any other drugstore dry shampoo brands you think I should try out?

To tame my hair and imagine that it's a bit less unhealthy I picked up some goodies from the 99p store :)
I got a argan oil hhydrating hair mask and a hair treastment/serum type thing - I've not used either yet but even if it's not miraculous I'm sure it'll sdd a bit of shine for a day.

The hair polish has me totally confused. It's a solid-ish product in a giant twist up tube. Like a big lip balm. I've been doing some research and I think you just twist it up, wipe some onto your hands and do your hair. Hey, it looks fun and was 99p!
