How to: Wash a faux fur collar

Washing the Dog!!

Random post but one that I could have done with reading!

I've had my black raccoon faux fur collar for a few months now and am embarrassed to say that yesterday was the first time I washed it due to laziness (and fear).

My ebay purchase didn't have any washing instructions and I couldn't even really depend on help from google because I didn't know for sure what it was made from.

But it got to the point where I would either have to wash it or buy a new one so I did some basic research about faux fur and decided to hand wash mine using Woolite (I use this to wash my merino wool cardigans too fyi).

I just ran some warm water into my sink and used a generous amount of Woolite (the pink one btw) and then swished black raccoon and all black (didn't need it but thought I might as well) in the sink and gently rubbed the fur (basically the same as I imagine you would do washing a pet)

The water was absolutely flithy! I was going to post a pic but it was kinda nasty :s

So after a few minutes I dumped both collars into my bath and used the shower head to rinse. Again I gently rubbed the fur but I wasn't too rough as I didn't want to lose any fur (the black shed like 3 hairs in the sink, black raccoon was fine!). Once water was running clear for a while I gently squeezed out excess water. I then set up a clothes horse in my bath and let it drip dry for....an hour? A bit more?

Collars were still soaking wet after an hour but you could see the fur starting to become matt and horribe so I gently wrung out the water and then set up a clothes horse in my living room (so that I could watch tv haha) and then I used my blow dryer.

I couldn't blow dry it completely dry because to be honest it was boring and time consuming. So I did both until the hair was looking more normal and then let them air dry.

This morning they are dry and clean, ready to rock and roll :)

Another celeb scent - Kate Moss

My latest celeb perfume courtesy of mummy/santa claus. Mummy said that I like pink perfumes which on reflection is true!

I wore this a few times before my nose was working but I received compliments and a common comment was roughly "it smells the way I expect you to smell".....which means I dunno but....

...the negative reviews of Kate say that it is a cheap and teenager type smell (which I wouldn't consider a compliment) but...

....the positive reviews say this is a young and sweet girly smell, so I hope that is what people mean lol

I've only had this since Christmas but as you can see from the photo I've already hit the half way mark!

So that a trio of celeb scents I now own and I love them all. I think with perfume you can't diss them until you've tried them.

2012 so far...

Hello!

How are you all? Hope you have been well.

Sorry I haven't posted for a while, 2012 has been a bit busy. Waiting for my brother to pick me up to get some treats for my work mates in honour of Chinese New Year so here's a quick post.

[ABOVE: Elf Eyebrow kit in Dark]

I know it's only January but I already know that the Elf Eyebrow kit is my product of the year. I got one for my mum (in medium) and SF(in dark) and had got another kit in dark (because wasn't sure if mumsy would be dark or medium) so thought I'd give it a go....and wow I love it.

It's all trial and error at the moment because I've never 'done' my brows before bar tweezing and threading (still growing them out - haven't threaded for nearly a year).

I like my shape so that doesn't change but I like the definition it gives to my face. I think my 'new' brows might be a bit OTT for some people but I like it, adds to my clown make up ;)

[ABOVE: Johnson's night face cream]

The cream was buy one get one free from Tesco's - I also got a day cream that I haven't used yet. This night cream is not going to be repurchased but it's all right. It feels light and watery and doesn't go very far, but it hasn't broken me out (though it does sting when I put it on....).

[ABOVE: Zara wedge boots]

Most recent purchase - my mum got me these boots yesterday. Never had anything like them before but I do like them a lot.

They were only £9.99 in the sale - they're a lace up wedge ankle boot in a stone/beige/neutral 'suede'. I've already worn them out (on the evening of the day of purchase) and they were pretty comfortable. Actually they were really comfortable but I didn't walk far/long so dpn't want to commit to a review just yet!

Uh oh - I have 40 mins to get ready so I better go,

Have a great day everyone xxx
