Blog post #200 - iHobo
This blog is going to be about the iHobo app available for iPod touches iPhones and the like (it's free - go get it now!!).
To me, it's an app to raise awareness, make money and gain support for the homeless. A lot of people are saying it's tasteless but homelessness is an issue that can't be ignored or brushed under the carpet, these are real lives and real people, and if an app can help in any way, then do it I say!
Download the app, and a young homeless man lives on your iWhatever for 3 days. He starts off pretty ok (he looks all right, and gives you a thumbs up when you 'visit' him), but my guy has 1 day, 4 hours and 45 minutes left with me and he is sad, cold and hungry. The tag says to take care of him before his life spirals out of control...I've missed a few of the alerts and I'm worried that it's too late. You get push notifications if he needs you (you can opt out) and when you go into the app it'll say things like, "He doesn't need anything, but some kids were shouting abuse at him. He feels safer now you're here." or "He needs oney to buy soe warm food. Thanks for being here for him". It also delivers more hard hitting messages like "He wa smugged. His sleeping bag was stolen. Now he's cold and afraid. Where were you?" (I was sleeping in my warm bed). "He needed some food but you weren't ther for him. Were you too busy?" - this alert was missed while I was at work. I know it sounds silly but it is heart rendering; the reality is much worse on the street.
So please download this app to show that you care.

[Edit: OH NO my iHobo doesn't have the energy to stand up anymore :(]
