Wedding part 2

[Above: pic of me in church]

Welcome to Part 2 :)

Firstly, apologies for the poor pic quality, i was asking my mum to take photo's of me and she is not very good so we're just stuck with duds and me being no supermodel makes them even worse but nevermind.

My wedding guest journey/experience has been long (a few months of anticipation and preparation). I've spent so much money on dresses and accessories (a lot of money if you factor in the fact that the wedding guest searching got me addicted to ASOS: Declined!!!!) and in typical Penny fashion I've just stuck with what I know best and the most plainest thing I could get away with.

[Below is a pic of me outside of the church]

I am wearing my blue ASOS dress (£28), my House of Fraser 'Linea' clutch bag (about £14.50 but i got further discount) and you can't see in this pic but i've got on my strappy clumpy evan sandals on (£10 in the sale)

My hair was a complete disaster that day - partly due to me abusing it recently and partly due to the heat, and partly due to what i think of as 'bad genes' - even though none of my relations has hair the same texture as mine. I did blow dry it all and straighten it all but the sweat and humidity was just too much. I put olive oil in it the night before but that just made it curl even more. I was asked if I had weave so that confirms that I am back in danger zone - maybe it's time for a haircut!? :(

[Pic below is me making friends in the lobby of the BAC before we were seated]
[Pic below is me outside the side entrance of BAC and you can see me shoes. And please not that I am not orange!!!!]
[Erm, pic below is me with my name plate on my head. Cool]
Was I happy with what I wore? No not really. I felt very comfortable in my dress. If I had worn the orange print dress I would have felt too 'in your face' and 'not me' and if I had worn the cream pearl dress ?I would of had to do a lot of tummy sucking and since I was in public for 10 hours I'm glad I wasn't wearing it. My choice of outfit allowed me to blend into the background and be able to move around freely withour worrying about rolls, or my bum or my legs. The only thing I cringe at with the pics are my arms - i didn't realise they were SO flabby but any of the other dresses wouldn't have hidden the fact so i made the best choice out of the 3 dresses.

The thing that let my outfit down was my shoes. They were toooo casual. I wore them instead of the planned becasue my mum told me to and when will i bloody learn not to listen to my mum about anything. She is almost always wrong, and always wrong when it comes to clothes, shoes, make up, hair etc The only good thing about wearing those shoes were at least my toes had some fresh air. But in the bigger scheme of things I wish I had my black and gold heels on or the navy blue almond toe shoes. Well, thank god I don't lnow any of the people from the wedding on an every day basis so I won't have to face them again lol

In case you are interested my finger nails were decked out in beige style (beige) and my toe nails were urban princess (pink). I was going to do fingers and toes in navy blue but a) thought it might be a bit dark and matchy matchy and b) I didn't have time to do both so thought I'd just leave them as they were.

Interestingly my mum also had a similair combo: she had london (mink/taupe) on her fingers and a burgandy on her toes. She wore a white tank with sequins around the neckline with a chifffon print skirt (main colours were egg blue, white and a creamy beige). She wore lace white pumps and a white leather handbag.

My brother wore a Prince of Wales patterned suit with a silvery grey tie. He wore no nail polish on his fingers or toes lol

So my lessons learned for next time:

  • DO wear what you are comfortable in
  • DO waterproof your make up
  • Don't listen to my mum!
If you have any questions about any of this wedding series then please ask :)

Part 3 coming right up!!

  1. You look gorgeous! Love love love the dress, especially the colour. Hey, give the Evan shoes more credit lol. At least you were comfortable and didnt have to scream out in pain with sexy but uncomfy shoes- resulting to which potentially would of been more embarrassing walking home barefoot!

Flabby arms?! Judging from the pics (which in my case always adds weight on lol), your arms look fine. Me and my mum have the same problem of the worry of "wobbly arms" syndrome, where all methods would be used to conceal them. But as Sugs always put it quite nicely- shrugs, shawls, and wahtever else worn in the blistering heat screams the fact that you're hiding your arms bringing it more attention... Sugs expression overall on the issue: "yuk". Cheeky b*stard!

But all in all honey, you looked the biz ;)
    Thumbs up tp ASOS!!

  2. OH MY GOD bait me up with the walking home barefoot comment LOL That was an emergency goddammit!!! ;)

That's the dress I was thinking of wearing to My's bday party, but thinking of wearing the black version cos I like it more (you know me!)

And Sugs is so right about the arm commentl; wearing whatever to conceal them can def draw more attention to them in the summer cos then everyone knows you have something to hide and might imagine it's something worse than just a bit of flab. At least my flab wasn't orange for once lol
